This is NOT a New Year’s resolution!
January 2, 2009
Just so happen to be thinking about blogging for the first time in a long time, and it just so happens to be the beginning of a new year. And just a little FYI, just because I’ve been absent from the blog scene doesn’t mean I wasn’t thinking about it this whole time. Like that one time I went to Denver to ski for the first time — yeah, that was worth blogging about but I didn’t! And that time I was researching which second hand Jeep Wrangler to buy from sketchy sellers on Craigslist — yeah, that was another blog worthy event! But instead I happened to decide to not blog. Just because. And blogging now about nothing in particular has nothing to do with anything!! AT ALL!
But come back tomorrow… y’know… just in case this phenomenon repeats itself. Daily.

Daily dose of random links:
1. I posted this to my Facebook the other day and got a few laughs. I mean, really, what else can you do but laugh: http://honestholly.com/the-good-wifes-guide-1950s-a-good-wife-knows-her-place/
2. My friend’s really cool design website… Who is They?
3. Another friend’s blog… which I’ve probably posted somewhere before, but she’s worth it… because she Ain’t No Fluzy.
4. Go hug a tree, and get green while doing it. I kinda hate how my community doesn’t participate in any of this. But it’s nice to dream about, I guess. Then there’s the counter argument that confuses the hell outta people who just wanna do the right thing: Do NOT recycle because you’re hurting people. I don’t know the date of that article, but I think I saw a US-based recycling company on the news the other day… as in, they do all the highly toxic dangerous stuff right here on US soil. And hopefully they don’t let the mercury leak into our water supply… right?
5. Speaking of Asian countries that we send our hazardous materials to so we don’t have to risk health defects while recycling…. here’s a slide show with some pix from my trip to China. Thanks to Malaika for these. [*Note: I'm not really in the pix, but Malaika has a great eye for interesting things. And it was really an interesting trip!]

Here’s another thought. I have relatively small fingertips. Why don’t I have an iPhone?

HAPPY NEW YEAR…. may you be showered with love, light, and as much laughter as your abs can handle!!!

Theme Schmeeme
September 8, 2008
I’ve been stressing over this all night. Literally! I didn’t crawl into bed until minutes to 8am and I swear — it’s because I was suffering major brain strain over how to turn this blog from a mushy mess [much like the falafel disaster that once took place in my mother's kitchen] into a cohesive, readble, RSS feedable, loveable huggable blog!
Most blogs that I’ve bookmarked have some kinda theme…
Critical Miami – Miami specific blog… all things Miami, esp current events and things to do, places to eat, etc. This guy focused on the community of Miami, and frankly, I’m super sad this blog is gone. I’m still in mourning, so I haven’t checked out his new blog yet. There’s a link to it somewhere in the blogosphere…
Hannah’s PIA blog- My friend Hannah is doing a fellowship program in South Korea and she’s blogging about her experiences [doesn't get much cooler than having a whole country as your theme].
Sweat Records – Not really like, blog blog, but Sweat is a local Miami indie record store/hang out spot, and this girl, Lolo, is like, Miami’s biggest cheerleader without pom-poms. I check this website b/c she keeps the bestest list of things to do en la MIA.
Roli’s LifeBlog+21 – So, although Roli no longer updates his photo blog [get on that, roli, please], it’s still super fun to look back on his camera phone pix of his journies in Utrect and wherever the hell else in the world he is.
Mostly Lisa – Arguably one of the best blogs everrrrrr! Not just b/c she’s one of the inspirations for me to blog more regularly, but [the short list]: 1. She’s a SHE, 2. She’s a techy geek [which, I sorta am, only, she's better... *sadface*], 3. She’s Candian, 4. Her writing is error free, short/to-the-point, and witty, 5. She supplements it all with cool links and pix. And she’s an actrees/model/photographer! Uber inspiring!
* An honorary blog, even though she no longer blogs, is Amanda Hannah. I think hers was the first blog I ever started reading religiously, and that was back when MySpace was cool. Nowadays she can be read on Facebook via the notes section, but — you gotta be her friend.
IMO, these are tough acts to follow. Each of them have just enough to lure you in, hold your interest, without boring anyone to tears. But they all centre around some THING… and I dunno what to wrap this blog around!! The whole eco-friendly thing is suuuuper cliche now, a blog about my life would bore ME to tears, and I’m not interesting enough to come up with anything better.
So… for now… you’re stuck with the mish-mash I call Cookiepuss Couture: stuff I think is cool. Lame, I know. But it’ll get better… I hope!
Return of the Cookiepuss
December 17, 2007
Yay! The hiatus from blogging is over! I’ve graduated, gotten over myself somewhat, and returned to the blog spot in order to share nothing but goodness with good people. No more browsing Craigslist personals in a lame attempt to make myself feel better. No more frivolously dispensing energy on lame rhyming poems about boys who don’t even like me. No more posting pix of my plant… okay, well, I would, but unfortunately, Ben passed away a few weeks ago.
Yeah, I know… [insert tiniest-violin-in-the-world here]. I’ve since replaced him with McKenzie, a plant of the exact same species I’ve decided is female instead. I have yet to take pix of her, but when I do, I promise they will be tasteful.
In other news…
Here’s the link of the day: The Story of Stuff.
Listen carefully to what she’s saying… and allow it to marinate. Then browse the website, and Enjoy!!
